Brass Bowls

I will be participating in a five person gallery show April 3rd - 18th, 2010, with the Bristol Art Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island, for which I will be painting mostly still lives. More news on that as it develops, here is the first painting.

My grandfather was a shop teacher and he made these shallow hammered brass bowls with his students. In this painting you can see hints of the star chart that is etched into the largest one.

edit 3/2/2010:I received some exciting news the other day when I was notified that this painting has been accepted to the Oil Painters of America 19th Annual National Juried Exhibition! It will take place at the Legacy Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, from April 30th to may 31st, 2010. This means, of course, that the painting will not be able to take part in my upcoming group show in Bristol, Rhode Island, as originally planned, but don't worry I have plenty others for that show that you will be seeing here shortly.
